Green waste can be disposed of at the Barretta & Bruny Island Waste and Recycling Centres.
Kingborough Waste Services (KWS) offers two free green waste weekends per year at the Barretta and one at the Bruny Island. The dates are advertised beforehand on Council’s social media pages and the website.
Items must not be greater than 300mm in diameter.
Green waste must be completely free of contaminants including:
- general waste
- hazardous waste
- plastic
- declared weeds
Detection of contaminants may result in additional disposal fees. If you need help in identifying weeds, please contact Council on (03) 6211 8200.
This year Council is holding two Green Waste Disposal Weekends, which are open for Kingborough residents according to their postcode. The split weekends are designed to make sure we are protecting our community and staff, as well as complying with distance requirements.
Residents will not have to pay a disposal fee on the below days as part of this Council initiative.
Green Waste Free Weekend Dates
The dates for the next Green Waste Disposal Weekend at the Barretta Waste Management Facility and Bruny Island Waste Transfer Station are:
- 23 and 24 November 2024 – Barretta and Bruny Island
- 22 and 23 February 2025 – Barretta and Bruny Island
Green waste must be completely free of contaminants including:
- general waste
- hazardous waste
- plastic
- declared weeds
A limit of five cubic metres per household applies. Commercial operators will be requested to pay standard rates.
