Food trucks, vans and trailers can make positive contributions to the attraction and vitality of our local areas and provide economic and cultural benefits for the community. The Kingborough food truck permit enables mobile food vendors to trade at approved locations on Council road reservations and land.

Food business registration
Tasmanian-wide mobile food business registration is a prerequisite for the Kingborough food truck permit.

Food trucks on private property
The Kingborough food truck permit does not apply for mobile food trading on private property.
Food trading (food services) on private property may be prohibited or require a planning permit, depending on the controls of the Kingborough Interim Planning Scheme 2015. We strongly recommend that you seek advice from Council’s Planning Department before any other approvals to understand the requirements.
Food trucks at events
The Kingborough food truck permit is not required for trading at an event or market in Kingborough. Permits and approvals for events are managed by the event organiser.
