Before submitting an application, make sure you have read the position description, including the selection criteria, which you can download on our current vacancies page. We recommend you contact the nominated Council officer for more information on the role.
Your application is an important first stage in demonstrating your claims in relation to the position.
Covering letter
You should include a covering letter as it allows you to introduce yourself and highlight the reasons you are seeking this position with the Council.
Answering the questions in the application form
Most roles require you to answer questions, which are based on the selection criteria for the position. This will assist us to establish whether you have the relevant knowledge, skills, qualifications and experience for the role.
In answering these quesitons, please provide information about your work history, qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience which is directly related to each criterion.

Acknowledgement
We will acknowledge receipt of your application when it has been received. If you commence an application and save it to complete at a later time, you will receive an email with a link to take you back to your application. Please note that applications cannot be completed after the closing date.
Assessment of applications by the Selection Committee
Soon after the closing date, applicants will be shortlisted for interview based on our assessment of the applications against the essential selection criteria (if relevant).
Interviews
If you are invited to attend an interview, you will have the opportunity to expand on information provided in your application. A series of questions will be asked to assess each applicant. You may also be asked to provide examples of previous work or undertake appropriate skills tests.
Once a decision has been made, all applicants are advised by email of the selection process outcome. Post-selection feedback is available upon request.
Positions with Council are subject to standard pre-employment checks, depending on the requirements of the position, and may include reference checks, a Working with Vulnerable People check, a National Police check, a qualification check, a Right to Work in Australia check, and a pre-employment health assessment.
