Japanese Calligraphy – Mother’s Day

Japanese calligraphy workshop for children or families with young children for Mother’s Day.
Maiko, your calligraphy instructor will guide you through the basics, teaching you the proper techniques and strokes to create a beautiful piece to take home after the event.
Immerse yourself in the beauty of Japanese art form and find your Japanese favourite characters including Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji in celebration of Mother’s Day this year.
-All materials provided
-All levels of Japanese calligraphy and cultural competency are welcome
-Tickets per child/participant + parent free of charge.
About artist/workshop facilitator:
Maiko Howell was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan and began studying calligraphy at age of 5 under the guidance of her mother – also a calligrapher.
Maiko became a master of Japanese traditional calligraphy in 2017 and has held workshops for children and adults throughout Eastern Japan and now lives in Kingborough with her own family teaching and promoting Japanese calligraphy as an art and all aspects of Japanese culture.
