Celebrate Harmony Week with us

This year Kingborough will celebrate Harmony Week on Friday, 21 March at the Community Hub from 5pm to 8 pm.

Mayor, Paula Wriedt said Harmony Week was a fun way to celebrate Kingborough’s cultural diversity and promote inclusiveness, respect and belonging.

“This will be a fun night filled with live music, dance performances and a large range of activities, including hair braiding and henna tattooing,” Cr Wriedt said.

“There will be food trucks on site offering a variety of authentic multicultural food, as well as favourites like choc tops ice cream and alcoholic beverages.

“We will have music by Latin American band Kattleya, and performances by the Kingston School of Bellydance and Hobart Irish Dancers.

“This year’s Harmony Week event is the first of four inclusive events throughout the year that will celebrate diverse cultures and provide opportunities for shared learning.

“It is important that we work to reduce barriers to ensure that everyone are able to participate in community activities.”

It is part of this year’s ‘Kingborough Together’ initiative supported by a Tasmanian Government Social Cohesion grant.
