Kingborough Council has extended entries for the Great Kingborough Bake Off until Thursday, 20 February.
There are already 29 entries in the competition and Council is encouraging members of the community to participate in this fun and colourful event.
The Great Kingborough Bake Off is a part of the TasPride Summer Festival and will be held on Saturday, 22 February from 10am to 12pm at the Kingborough Community Hub
This LGBTIQA+ inclusive event is open to everyone and the competition will feature a range of decorated cupcakes and cakes in three categories:
• Under 12’s – Decorated cupcake with an open theme - Pancake Train voucher $100
• 12- 18 year’s – Decorated cake of choice with a rainbow theme - Minimax voucher $200
• Open award – pride theme - Minimax voucher $500
• People’s Choice – Salty Dog voucher $100
Acting Mayor, Clare Glade-Wright said that we have a very special celebrity judge Dr Nurman Noor who is a local Kingston GP and a finalist in the 2022 Great Australian Bake Off.
“Dr Noor will be joined by local Pastry Chef Kirsten Bacon and Sielito, Vice President of TasPride Inc,” Cr Glade-Wright said.
“There will be cupcakes, cakes and other sweet treats for sale from Floofy Cakes.
Members of the community are welcome to come along and have a cuppa and vote for their favourite cake in the People’s Choice Award.
“Heather Laverne, owner of Floofy Cakes, was the Open Award winner of the 2024 Great Kingborough Bake Off.”
