Kingborough Poised for Major Boost with AFL High Performance Centre

Kingborough is set to reap substantial economic and social benefits with the establishment of the AFL High Performance Centre (HPC) within the region’s premier sporting precinct.

Mayor, Paula Wriedt said the state-of-the-art facility would not only strengthen Kingborough’s status as Tasmania’s leading hub for sports and recreation but also deliver a significant economic boost to the local economy.

“Economic reports estimate that during the peak construction phase, we could see an injection of over $71 million to regional Tasmania’s economy,” Cr Wriedt said.

“This rise in activity is expected to create more than 250 new jobs in areas such as hospitality, retail, and the supply of goods and services throughout Kingborough.

“The benefits don’t end when construction is completed.

“Increased foot traffic from visitors, staff, and players will invigorate local shopping areas and create opportunities for new businesses to establish.

“There will also be significant social benefits brought by the HPC coming to the region.

“Young athletes in Kingborough will gain access to unique development pathways, inspiring the next generation to pursue their sporting dreams.

“The centre’s proximity to Kingston High School, with its focus on sports, health, and wellbeing, further strengthens its potential to engage and support local youth.”

“This facility will not only reinforce Kingborough’s reputation as a leader in sport and recreation but also deliver lasting economic and social benefits to our community.

“We are thrilled about the opportunities this centre will bring to our residents and look forward to the positive impacts it will have across the region.
