Graffiti in Kingborough

“Members of the community have been expressing their dislike about the increasing incidents of graffiti throughout Kingborough and I have listened to these concerns.

“No-one likes to see this type of vandalism on properties in our area, quite frankly it’s just ugly.

“When graffiti appears on private properties, such as those owned by businesses or utility providers, Council will notify owners and encourage them to act,”

“Unfortunately, we don’t have the powers to force them to clean it up, but I would hope that they share the desire to rid our area of this unsightly vandalism,” Cr Wriedt said.

“When graffiti that is offensive or inappropriate appears on Council-owned property it will be removed as a matter of priority.

“We will also introduce deterrent measures such as the installation of green walls on Council infrastructure, hiding potential graffiti hot spots with plants.

“Additionally, Council will raise awareness about the impact of graffiti on the community to foster a sense of shared responsibility in protecting public spaces.

“We are also encouraging residents to report graffiti directly to us by emailing kc@kingborough.tas.gov.au with a photo and location of the graffiti or by calling 6211 8200.

“By assessing and responding promptly, and involving Tasmania Police, when necessary, we can work together to keep Kingborough a vibrant place for everyone.”
