Ride 2 Work Day

Get on your bike this week for Ride2Work Day on Wednesday 16 October 2024.

Kingborough Councillor and Bicycle Advisory Committee Chair, Amanda Midgley invites Kingborough’s cycling community to celebrate Ride2Work day with an event in Kingston.

“This year we are hosting a special breakfast at Maxie Coffee to celebrate riding to work,” Cr Midgley said.

“It is a collaborative event with Cycling South, Kingborough’s Bicycle Advisory Committee members, Bicycle Network Tasmania and Treadlies.

“Council is committed to promoting and supporting healthy transport options by creating more shared pathways and improving cycling lanes around Kingborough.

“By improving safety and connectivity, Kingborough Council is seeking to make cycling a convenient and appealing choice for residents of all ages.

“Launched in 2021, Our Cycling Strategy focuses on enhancing cycling infrastructure, integrating paths with key destinations, and fostering a culture of cycling through education and community engagement program

“Today’s celebration is all about building up our cycling culture by connecting with other cyclist to talk about topics such as new paths around the community, electric bikes and trikes, transporting kids and repairing and maintenance.”

The breakfast will be held from 7.30am – 9am at Maxie Coffee, 26 Channel Highway Kingston.

Councillor Midgley thanks Mark Donnellon from the Kingborough Bicycle Advisory Committee for his organisation of the event.
