Better Accessibility for the Beach

Council understands that people living with disability or with limited mobility should have equitable and easy access to services and facilities.

Kingborough Mayor, Paula Wriedt said improvements had been made to the Coningham Beach toilets and Snug Beach foreshore to improve access.

“As Chair of Council’s Disability Inclusion and Access Advisory Committee I am very excited to see these additional accessibility projects completed,” Cr Wriedt said.

“Priority parking signage was installed at the north-eastern end of the Snug beach foreshore.

“This will allow people with limited mobility or who are unable to get out of their cars easily, to enjoy the view from a seated position.

“The accessible viewing area was an idea sent in by a member of the public which has inspired our members of the Disability Inclusion and Access Committee to think of other areas that may benefit from more priority parking signage.

“The parking area adjacent to the Coningham Beach toilets also got an upgrade with a compliant accessible parking bay installed.

“We love our beaches in Kingborough, and this provides the opportunity for all our community to have better access to enjoy them.”
