Better Active Transport Grants

Kingborough Council welcomed the funding support for a shared path from the State Government’s Better Active Transport Grants Program.

Mayor, Paula Wriedt said the $125,000 grant funding along with matched Council funding would enable a 240m long concrete shared path to connect Westside Circle to Whitewater Creek track and Kingston Park.

“This pathway will build greater accessibility for the community by making it easier for residents to access essential services, recreational facilities, and community events,” Cr Wriedt said.

“Our community has one of the highest participation rates in recreational walking, so improving this urban active transport link will provide better options for moving about in Kingston off road.

“Building on from our recent upgrades to Whitewater Creek track and our underpass which is currently being constructed, we are ensuring that community connectivity is improved in Kingborough.”
