A new play space is being installed next to the Blackmans Bay Skate Park from 25 June.
Young people in the area have been seeking improved recreational facilities to complement the newly extended skate park. Their request will become a reality with support from the Kingborough Council, State Government and Rotary Club of Kingston.
The area has been designed to provide a whole-of-park solution where families and social groups can meet and enjoy the recreational opportunities. It will provide space for young children to ride small bikes around the circular path and older children can test their agility on the climbing frame.
The park caters for all-abilities and will have a double see saw, nature play, stepping stones and sand-based soft fall. There will be seasonal landscaping and shelters incorporated into the space, to protect users from the sun or rain.
Public access along the footpath will remain open; however the play area will be fenced off for the duration of the construction.
